There are times when I find my love-hate relationship with VH1 very tiresome. Right now, I can't even remember why I hate VH1 because I cannot wait for the next season of Celebrity Fit Club. I have a standing appointment to be at LCG's house Sunday nights at ten whenever there is season of Celebrity Fit Club in progress, because somewhere along the line it became our favorite television show.
We started watching by accident during the first season and after one full episode we were hooked. It's like a soap opera where you have to get on the scale or a sport where you are rooting for every team...or something. I have tried to figure out the appeal of Celebrity Fit Club and I can't quite put my finger on it. I think I like to watch Harvey Walden IV yelling at celebrities, although snevets believes that the word celebrity is being used generously when it comes to this show. That is true, but I love it just the same.
In fact, I started my own low grade fit club to coincide with the first episode of Season Three. Almost everyone I know is in the club because there are no meetings and no rules other than "do something." Although at least once a week I compare progress with Joejung, who embraced the low grade fit club to the point of joining a gym. So you can imagine how sad I am when another season of Celebrity Fit Club comes to a close, as Season Three did just seven days ago. This week I searched the VH1 web site for the phrase Celebrity Fit Club 4 and got grumbly when it said no results found. Come on! I need to know when the next season starts! Long before it starts I will need to discuss the new cast with LCG. We like to guess which member of the cast is going to turn out to be the Baldwin-crazy one.
Even though VH1 let me down, I figured that I could dig up a little something on the Television Without Pity forums. These are the folks that know about television and know where to find the VH1 gossip that I crave. I found the Celebrity Fit Club thread and sure enough, someone had posted a cast list for Celebrity Fit Club 4. They are bringing back Phil Margera! Yay! Sometimes contestants come back to knock off a little more weight and I was hoping for Phil. I love his grin and his helpful wife April. I do not love his boy Bam but at least Bam was also helpful during Phil's first stint on the show. And then, almost at the bottom of the list, I saw it. The name that will make this the best Celebrity Fit Club ever. I say that every season but this one has got the potential to take the prize. The name I saw was Vince Neil.
Vince! Neil! On! Celebrity! Fit! Club! It's almost an embarrassment of riches. I was so thrilled I wanted to call LCG right away but he was having a busy day at work so I emailed him instead. Within minutes I got a reply and it was along the lines of, "Jennifer Tilly! Woo-hoo!" Wrong name, bunghole. I cannot stand the Tilly sisters and I can never decide if he actually likes them or just claims to like them to be annoying. Either way I placed a phone call and said, "Vince Neil is the one that is exciting." Then he started debating Corey Haim (also on the new Celebrity Fit Club list) with his co-workers. They couldn't figure out which Corey he is. I'm all, "The cute Corey. Could we please get back to Vince?"
We could not but yesterday LCG finally thought to ask me, "Did Vince get fat again? Did he gain weight on the road? No, you lose weight on the road, right?" That is true if you believe something Peter Gabriel said back when So was on the charts. He said he never liked his album covers because he gained weight in the studio and lost it on the road. We use that as the general guideline for rock star weight fluctuations but here we have to remember that Vince likes a drink now and then.
Maybe he has poor road nutrition, maybe Vince Vineyards really took off and he is enjoying too much wine. On the other hand, he did get into shape on his very own VH1 makeover show. It's possible that he started to soften up a little and he would like to return to his post-makeover fitness level. Whatever the reason, I can't wait to see which Vince he decides to be for the show. He might be Baldwin-crazy and become most likely to have a meltdown or he could get all determined and end up as a team captain. I do know one thing for sure: it won't be dull.
